MOBILE, Ala., --- The Mississippi College baseball team snapped a five-game skid with a 5-0 win at Spring Hill College on Tuesday afternoon. The blanking marks the second time this season that MC (7-7) has shutout an opponent.
The victory is the second in the series for the Choctaws against SHC (7-7) and the first on the Badgers' home field.
The Navy and Gold picked up multiple hit efforts from
Will Elliott,
Blaine Crim and
Hunter Hall in the decision as they recorded two hits each.
Jake Fraze (3-1) logged the win on the bump pitching 7.2 frames. The sophomore hurler fanned three and walked a trio with five hits allowed.
Tyler Scholl tossed the final inning while
Samuel Harrison logged just a third of an inning of action in relief.
The Choctaws wasted no time plating their first run of the contest as
Logan Ferrell hit a one-out, home run in the first inning. The homer is the first of the season for the senior.
MC added a run in the fourth as Crim singled to score
Chance Whitten. The Mobile, Ala., native logged his only RBI in the sixth with a double that scored Elliott after Hall scored on an
Austin Warkentin sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.
The Choctaws posted their final run in the eighth as Hall drew a bases loaded walk to score
Caleb Upton.
Wesley Parrish (2-2) received the loss on the mound with three runs – two earned – on seven hits. Parrish struck out and walked three in the start.
William Floros paced the Purple and White recording three of its five hits in the contest.
Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Mar. 5 as it travels to Rome, Ga., to Shorter University in a Gulf South Conference, three-game series.
