CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team opened Gulf South Conference play with a 9-0 sweep of Christian Brothers on Wednesday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws (3-3, 1-0 GSC) snapped a three-match losing streak that saw them playing injured against two nationally-ranked teams in Ouachita Baptist and Southwest Baptist.
Sophomore
Petar Damjanovic and freshman
Maximilian Nilges opened the day with an 8-5 win at the #2 doubles position.

Marcos Rocca and
Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez and the #3 team of sophomore
Sanders Barrick and freshman
William Clausen picked up 8-6 wins to take a 3-0 victory.
In singles play, the Choctaws wasted no time clinching the match as Damjanovic (#3) and senior
Taylor Griffith (#6) picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Gonzalez (#4) and Barrick (#5) did not need much more time as they each dropped just one game on their way to pushing the lead out to 7-0.
Rocca (#1) and Nilges (#2) each needed three sets but ended up clinching the sweep. Rocca picked up a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 win over Eric Mueller, while Nilges defeated Nick Wiseman, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
The Choctaws are back in action this weekend with two home matches against Loyola (LA) (Feb. 27 - 2:00 pm) and Florida Southern (Feb. 28 - 2:00 pm).
