HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team dropped their final road contest of the season to Gulf South Conference-leading Alabama Huntsville, 73-63, on Saturday afternoon at Spragins Hall.
After falling behind by as many as 10 in the opening half, the Choctaws were able to cut the advantage to 30-28 with two minutes remaining and took a 32-28 deficit into the half.
The Chargers (19-5, 16-3 GSC) jumped out to a 13-2 run in the second half, pushing the advantage to 45-30 with 16:25 remaining.
MC would continue to cut into the advantage and when junior
Byron McCall made a layup on an assist from senior
Johnny Rucker, the score was 49-45 with 11:52 remaining.
The Chargers were able to push the lead back out and hold on for their 8th straight victory and clinch the GSC regular season championship.
Senior
Jonathan McGee led MC with 18 points, while sophomores
Antonio Johnson (12) and
Stacey Mack (10) were in double-figures. McCall pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to go along with seven points.
Seab Webster was the only player in double-figures for UAH with 25 points. The Chargers were 16-of-47 from the three-point line, led by seven from Webster.
The Choctaws will close out the 2015-16 season with three home games beginning Thursday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum against Lee University at 7:30 p.m.
