FLORENCE, Ala. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team opens the final road trip of the season on Thursday night when they travel to Florence, Ala. to face North Alabama at Flowers Hall. The Gulf South Conference contest is scheduled for an 8:00 pm tip-off.
This will be the 47th all-time meeting between the two schools with the Lions holding a 28-18 edge in the series. The Choctaws swept both meetings in the 2014-15 season, but UNA picked up a 73-68 win in Clinton back on January 4th.
When the teams played at A.E. Wood in early January, MC trailed 38-26 at the break after shooting just 28% from the floor. They bounced back in the second half, cutting the lead to 69-68 in the final seconds, but UNA pulled away to clinch the win.
Jonathan McGee led MC with 20 points, while
Johnny Rucker scored 17 points, going 10-of-11 from the foul line.
The Choctaws are coming off a tight loss to West Florida on Saturday afternoon that saw them cut an 18-point lead down to a single point in the final seconds, but the Argos held on for the 80-75 victory. McGee led MC with 25 points, going 5-of-9 from the three-point line.
The Choctaws had their third-best shooting night of the season against West Florida, going 27-of-50 (54%) from the floor. They also had 15 assists and a season-high 12 steals against the Argos.

Don Lofton comes into his 12th season with his 200th career victory in sight. Lofton, who has been a part of the program for more than 30 years, has won 195 games as the head man and coached his 300th career game against UWF.
Tristan Moore (13.6 ppg) is MC's all-time leader in assists (4.3) and steals (1.9) per game for a career. He is on pace to become just the 10th player in school history to eclipse 200 helpers in a career. He has also been efficient at the foul line, going 23-of-23 from the charity stripe over his last three games.
McGee (12.9 ppg) has made five three-pointers in each of the last three games, averaging 22.7 points and shooting 54% from behind the arc over that span. The Raymond native has made at least one three-pointer in 14 straight games and made multiple long balls in 12 contests this season.
Rucker (12.4 ppg) is shooting 79% from the foul line this season and ranks second on the team with 20 steals. The Yazoo City native had a season-high six swipes on Saturday against West Florida and has scored in double-figures in all but six games this season.
UNA is led by 13th-year head coach Bobby Champagne, who picked up his 200th career win on Thursday night against Shorter. The high-scoring Lions are tied for the GSC lead in scoring (87.7 ppg), but are allowing 87.1 points per game, which ranks 10th.
In their last game, UNA gave up 68 second-half points to take a 110-97 loss at the hands of Lee University on Saturday. Tavaras Toliver led five Lions in double-figures with 21 points off the bench. The Flames shot 63% from the floor in the game, including 73% (22-of-30) in their big second half.
John Fletcher (16.0 ppg) is the team's leading scorer and is shooting 82% from the foul line and leads the team with 27 steals. He is one of three players, joined by Austin Timms (11.3 ppg) and Jeff Hodge (9.2 ppg), to start all 23 games this season.
Dimario Jackson (14.4 ppg) and Bilal Richardson (13.4 ppg) are also scoring in double-figures this season. Jackson leads the team with 3.3 assists per contests, while Richardson is the team's leading rebounder at 8.3 per game.
