CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped its third straight contest as MC (3-4, 1-3 Gulf South Conference) fell 72-63 to Christian Brothers University in conference play. CBU improved to 5-4 and 2-3 in the league.

Olivia Mabry posted double figures for the fourth time this season with 19 points against the Lady Buccaneers. The Meridian, Miss., native's previous career-best was 13 set against Delta State earlier this season. The

Ashley Minor and
Kelley Allen joined Mabry in double figures with 14 and 12 points respectively. Allen also led MC with eight rebounds – two shy of her third double-double of the season. Mabry finished second on the team in boards with seven – a season-high and three shy of tying her career best.

MC shot 83.3 percent from the free throw line in the setback. The mark stands second-best on the season behind a 90.3 clip at Shorter on Dec. 17.

Christian Brothers led for 35-plus minutes of the contest. The Lady Choctaws held the advantage for just over two minutes of the contest.

CBU shot 44.9 percent from the field - the second-best mark on the season for a MC opponent. The best mark of the season came by Delta State, which posted a 55.8 clip.

For the third time this season, Mississippi College was out-rebounded as CBU held a plus-three advantage on the glass (31-28).

HOW IT HAPPENED
CBU held its largest of the game at 12 points, 43-31, with 6:42 left to play in the third quarter behind a 12-0 run to open the third quarter. MC grabbed its first lead with 6:22 left in the second quarter on a pair of free throws from Mabry.

MC knotted the contest at 43-all with a 10-0 run at the 3:08 mark of the third quarter. Five different Lady Choctaws scored during the spurt led by four points from Mabry.

The Lady Bucs regained the advantage on a jumper from Luckett with 2:43 left in the third period and never trailed again. MC nipped the deficit to 51-50 with 8:59 left in the game, but couldn't draw closer.
