Lofton Notches 200th Victory in 83-65 Win Over Selma

CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College head men's basketball coach Don Lofton collected his 200th career victory on Saturday afternoon with an 83-65 win over Selma University in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A back-and-forth battle in the opening minutes saw the Bulldogs take a 19-17 lead with 10:14 remaining as Derrick Jolly knocked down two free throws.
- The Choctaws (3-1) closed the half on a 28-7 run to grab a 45-26 halftime advantage.
- MC took their largest lead of the game at 48-27 when senior Byron McCall hit 1-of-2 free throws with 17:30 to go.
- The Bulldogs would get no closer than 15 points as the Choctaws closed out their third non-conference win of the season.

KEY STATS
- The Choctaws outrebounded the Bulldogs 54-36, including pulling down 39 defensive rebounds.
- Junior Stacey Mack pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, to go along with a team-high 17 points to complete his second double-double of the season.
- Five Choctaws scored in double-figures as Mack was joined by senior DeOndre Haynes (15), senior Byron McCall (14), junior Antonio Johnson (13) and freshman Brandon Boston (13).
- The Choctaws went 41-of-53 (77%) from the free throw line, the most foul shots made for an MC team in over 10 years.
- Jolly led the Bulldogs with 26 points, going 9-of-19 from the field. Dionne Parks was also in double-figures with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
- MC held Selma to 35% (26-of-74) shooting from the field and 17 turnovers.

GAME NOTES
- Head coach Don Lofton picked up his first career victory on November 22, 2002 with a 82-62 win over Concordia-Selma.
- His 100th win came on January 10, 2009 in an 89-85 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
- The Choctaws had five players score in double-figures, the first time since December 6, 2015 against West Georgia.
- The Choctaws made a three-pointer for the 486th straight game, dating back to March 5, 1998.
- Stacey Mack recorded his seventh career double-doubles with the Choctaws going 6-1 in such contests.
- Junior Antonio Johnson pulled down a career-high eight rebounds and tied a career-high with six assists in the win.

NEXT UP
- The Choctaws will hit the road after exams to play a two-game GSC road trip against Lee (Dec. 15) and Shorter (Dec. 17).
- MC's next home game will be December 31st when the Choctaws host Christian Brothers at 4:00 p.m.
