Cold Shooting Dooms Choctaws in Loss at Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team shot just 27% (17-of-63) from the field in a 72-55 loss to Lee University on Thursday night in Paul Dana Walker Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Brandon Boston scored the game's first points with 17:55 to go in the first half, giving the Choctaws (3-2, 0-2 GSC) an early 2-0 lead.
- Junior Antonio Johnson knocked down a three-pointer with 14:57 remaining to give MC their final lead of the game at 7-6.
- The Flames (6-2, 2-0 GSC) answered with a 9-0 run and closed the half by outscoring the Choctaws 31-11 to take a 37-18 lead into the half.
- Lee took their biggest lead of the night with 6:18 remaining when Isaac Merian's three-pointer made the score 66-35.
- The Choctaws closed the game on a 20-6 run to give the game its final score.

KEY STATS
- The Choctaws went just 6-of-29 (20.7%) from the field in the first half, scoring 18 points.
- MC scored 28 points off the bench, led by sophomore Davy Fisher with 10. The Rome, Ga. native went 2-of-5 from the three-point line and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
- Boston led the Choctaws with 13 points, going 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
- Freshman Tucker Campbell scored a career-high eight points, going 2-of-4 from the three-point line.
- The Choctaws were outrebounded 45-33, and the Flames outscored MC in the paint, 36-16.
- Keevin Tyus led the Flames with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Merian was also in double-figures with 11 points.
- Lee shot 46% from the field and had 17 assists on 26 made field goals.

GAME NOTES
- Lee now leads the all-time series with the Choctaws 3-2, including winning 2-of-3 games in Cleveland.
- None of the first four games between the two schools had been decided by more than nine points until Thursday night.
- The Choctaws played with their third different starting lineup of the season as Boston earned his first career start.
- Johnson's three-pointer in the first half gave the Choctaws a long-range make for the 487th straight game, dating back to March 5, 1998.
