CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team claimed the opening set of its Friday evening match at Lee University, but dropped the contest 3-1. MC moved to 10-20 and 3-16 in the Gulf South Conference. LU improved to 15-14 and 10-10 in the conference.

A back and forth in the first set saw the two stand deadlocked 13 times. The final tie came at 24-all as Mitchell tallied a kill to place the Navy and Gold up 25-24. Kimes finished off the set with a service ace to give MC a 26-24.

Jenna Campbell paced the Lady Choctaws with 11 kills in the effort while
Bailee Berringer and
Sydney Chandler each distributed double-digit assists. Berringer led the duo with 16 while Chandler added 12. Berringer picked up 12 digs.

Kayana Mitchell,
Jamila Biglow and
Ashton King each recorded blocks on the night. Mitchell led the trio with four while Biglow and King each tallied two blocks.

Lee knotted the match with a 25-16 win in the second set and took a 2-1 lead in the match following a 25-11 win in the third set.

MC fought back in the final frame before falling 25-19 to conclude the match. The Lady Choctaws trailed by as much as 20-15 in the final set, but rallied back to cut the deficit to 22-19, however, the Flames rattled off three straight points by capitalizing on a pair of miscues and a kill by Sadie Johnson.

LU was led by Claire McMasters' 15 kills while Brooke Wilsman added 11 and Carly Callahan provided 10 kills.

Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 12 as it travels to Rome, Ga., to face Shorter University. Match time is slated for Noon central.
