CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team welcomes the University of North Alabama to A.E. Wood Coliseum for a Monday night contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
This will be the 46th all-time meeting between the two schools with UNA holding a 27-18 edge in the series. The Choctaws won both meetings in the 2014-15 season, picking up an 81-68 win in Florence and winning 76-73 in Clinton.
In the victory in Clinton, MC erased a 10-point halftime deficit, led by senior
Tory Rice with 23 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Senior
Tristan Moore scored 21 points, while sophomore
Stacey Mack had 15 points and a career-high 14 boards.
The Choctaws opened 2016 with a 70-64 loss to GSC-leading Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon in Clinton. Moore scored a game-high 18 points, while Rice scored 16 points with eight rebounds. The Chargers were able to hold on to a late lead as MC's rally came up short.

Don Lofton comes into his 12th season with his 200th career victory in sight. Lofton, who has been a part of the program for more than 30 years, has won 193 games as the head man and coached his 300th career game against UWF.
The Choctaws have struggled at home this season, going 1-3, including three straight GSC losses. MC is averaging just 60.5 points per game and shooting 38% from the field in the "Golden Dome". In contrast, they are scoring 79.2 points per game and shooting 51% from the field in road games, going 3-2.
Rice (15.6 ppg / 10.9 rpg) is MC's leading scorer and rebounder this season, shooting 61% from the floor. The Starkville native is averaging 16.2 points and 9.9 rebounds per game in his career. Only seven players in school history have averaged a double-double over their career.
Moore (14.6 ppg / 4.4 apg) is MC's all-time leader in assists and steals per game. The Senatobia native is averaging 4.4 helpers and 1.8 swipes over 33 games in his career. Over the last three games, he is averaging 18.7 points and 4.3 assists per contest.
Seniors
Johnny Rucker (12.2 ppg) and
Jonathan McGee (10.0 ppg) are also scoring in double-figures this season. Rucker tied a career-high with eight rebounds on Saturday against UAH. McGee has hit three three-pointers in each of his last two games.
Sophomore
Antonio Johnson (3.2 ppg) has played some big minutes of late, scoring a career-high nine points against UAH. The McComb native is shooting 43% from the three-point line and ranks 3rd on the team with 14 assists.
The Lions are led by 13th-year head coach Bobby Champagne, who is on pace to pick up his 200th win this season with 193 under his belt. His team has been really good at home, going 7-1 in Flowers Hall, but UNA is 0-5 away from Florence this season.
Last time out, the Lions went just 2-of-17 (12%) from the three-point line in a 97-74 loss at Delta State on Monday night. Dimarrio Jackson led UNA with 19 points, while Bilal Richardson had 17 with a team-high six rebounds. The Statesmen shot 52% from the field on the night.
Richardson (16.1 ppg / 3.4 apg) leads the team in both scoring and assists. He is shooting 41% from the three-point line and 91% from the foul line. Richardson (14.8 ppg / 8.5 rpg) is the team's leading rebounder on the season.
John Fletcher (14.8 ppg) and Austin Timms (10.7 ppg) are also averaging in double-figures. The Lions are good at getting to the free throw line, averaging 24 makes at the charity stripe per contest.
