Lady Choctaws' Rally Falls Short Christian Brothers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team fell 67-62 at Christian Brothers University on Thursday evening despite trying to erase a 10-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter. MC moves to 5-12 and 3-11 in the Gulf South Conference. CBU improves to 7-11 and 5-9 in conference play.

The Lady Choctaws trailed 62-52 with 5:45 remaining in the contest, but rallied behind an 8-0 run to pull the advantage back to two points with 2:32 left on the clock. However, the Navy and Gold couldn't overcome the Lady Bucs lead as it connected on three of its final four shots to ice the contest.

Chloe Roberts led a trio with double figures for MC. The Reagan, Tenn., native posted 17 points in the effort. Carla Clemmons recorded her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kristen Sampson rounded out the group with 14 points for the Lady Choctaws.

MC finished the night shooting 36.2 percent from the field, despite going 1-for-11 from behind the arc. The Lady Choctaws also connected on just over 64 percent from the charity stripe.

Samantha Reeves paced the Red and Black with 17 points. Courtney Banks added 13 points with 11 coming from Rachel Lee. Ashley Schaefer was the catalyst on the glass for CBU with 10 rebounds – all on the defensive end.

MC outscored the Lady Bucs in the paint by 16 points and held a plus-15 advantage in second chance points in the contest behind a plus-nine margin on the glass.

CBU finished the night shooting 50 percent from the floor, including a 37.5 clip from the 3-point line. The squad shot 61.1 percent from the free throw line.
