TIFTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College baseball team was swept in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon by Valdosta State University at the ABAC Baseball Field.
The Blazers (27-16, 18-11 GSC) hit eight home runs over the two games, outscoring the Choctaws (12-33, 4-27 GSC) by a count of 18-2.
In the opener, VSU jumped out to a 4-0 lead through three innings before Michael Gouge hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to extend the lead. Hayden Jones and Ryan Smith hit solo shots, while a three-run home run by Bryant Hayman capped off the 11-0 win.
Senior
Akiko Thompson had a team-high two hits for the Choctaws. Freshman
Jake Fraze (2-7) allowed 11 hits and six earned runs over 5.0 innings on the mound.
Cody Mitchell (8-2) struck out five and allowed just five hits over a complete game shutout.
In the second game, The Blazers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the first inning from Gouge, but the Choctaws would answer back with a run in the second on an RBI single by sophomore

The Blazers pushed out the lead to 3-1 through three innings, but the Choctaws would come back again in the fourth as junior
Toler Robinson singled and came home to score on an RBI double by junior
Hunter Hall.
The Choctaws could not convert the game-tying run, and the Blazers would score four more runs to take a 7-2 victory.
Hall led the Choctaws with two hits, while junior
Caleb Upton also had two.
Senior
Brooks Fortenberry tossed his eighth career complete game in his final appearance, allowing 10 hits with two strikeouts.
Hayden Jones led VSU with three hits, two of which were home runs, giving him three in the doubleheader. Kyle Andre (6-4) alloweed seven hits and two runs over 6.0 innings for the Blazers.
The Choctaws and Blazers will close out the series tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. back in Valdosta.
