JACKSON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped their final non-conference game of the season, falling to Millsaps on Tuesday night at Twenty Field, 15-1.
The Choctaws (12-31) fell behind early as the Majors (26-10) put up four runs in the first inning, all of which came with two outs. The big blow was a three-run double from Lee Ogletree.
MC would get a run back in the second inning when they loaded the bases with no outs, and a fielder's choice by junior
Logan Ferrell scored junior
Toler Robinson.
That would be the only run the Choctaws would score on the night, while the Majors would blow the game open with eight runs in the fifth inning.
Robinson led the team with two hits, while Ferrell and sophomore
Austin Warkentin also had base-knocks.
Junior
Kyle Cumlander took the loss for MC, giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs over 4.0 innings. Juniors
Hunter Floyd and
Tyler Scholl did not allow a run over the final 1.1 innings.
Andy Page led the Majors with three hits, while Annon Etheridge scored a team-high three runs. Colin Peak was credited with the win for Millsaps.
The Choctaws will close out the season this weekend when they travel to Valdosta State University for a three-game set, beginning Saturday with a doubleheader at noon (Central).
