CLINTON, Miss. --- In a Gulf South Conference match that saw four singles matches go to three sets, the Mississippi College men's tennis team came away with a 5-4 win over Shorter University on Friday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws (6-9, 3-5 GSC) got two wins in doubles action to grab an early lead over the Hawks (5-11, 1-6 GSC). Senior

Joan Valy got an 8-2 win at #2 over Arthur Amat and Patrick Sanders.

Dudley Lampton and freshman
Sanders Barrick would give MC the advantage going into singles action with an 8-4 win at #3.
Freshman
Lucio Menezes opened singles play with a 6-4, 6-3 win at #2 over Alexis Catillon, while freshman
Petar Damjanovic took down Amat in three sets (6-2, 0-6, 2-0, retired).
The clinching win for MC came when freshman
Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez took down Sanders in straight sets (6-4, 7-6 (7-5)).
The Hawks would win the final three singles matches, but the Choctaws had already clinched the match and improved to 3-5 in GSC play.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday when they will host North Alabama at 2:00 p.m.
