CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's tennis team got off to a slow start and dropped a Gulf South Conference match to Alabama Huntsville, 7-2, on Wednesday afternoon at the MC Tennis Complex.
The Choctaws (4-7, 1-3 GSC) started off with losses in each of the three doubles matches. The #1 and #2 doubles teams lost in 8-6 decisions, while the #3 doubles team lost, 8-4.
In singles play, senior
Matthew Martin got things started with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Pablo Herrero at #3. Freshman
Petar Damjanovic gave MC another point with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Brodie Holmes at #4.
The Chargers (5-6, 2-3 GSC) would win three singles matches in straight sets. The #5 singles match between
Jose Rodrigo Gonzalez and Elliot Hopson went to three sets with UAH pickin up a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 win.
The Choctaws will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Pensacola, Fla. for a couple of GSC matches against Valdosta State (Friday-2:00 p.m.) and West Florida (Saturday-9:00 a.m.).
