LIVINGSTON, Ala. --- The Mississippi College baseball team dropped the series opener to West Alabama by a score of 5-0 on Friday night at Tartt Field.
The Choctaws (9-15, 2-13 GSC) got a solid pitching performance from senior
Brooks Fortenberry, who went 7.0 innings with five strikeouts, allowing three earned runs.
The Tigers (17-8, 10-5 GSC) got all the offense they needed in the third inning when Parker Madden hit a two-out solo home run. They would add a run in the fourth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth to collect the shutout victory.

Kyle Smith and sophomore
Hunter Bolin combined to go 4-for-8 at the top of the lineup for the Choctaws. Junior
Hunter Hall also had two hits for MC.
Nick Delgado and Tanner Rainey each had two hits for the Tigers. Jorge Cruz picked up the win for UWA, tossing 8.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts.
The Choctaws and the Tigers will be back in action on Saturday for a doubleheader at 11:00 a.m.
