CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team could not overcome a big second half run by the University of North Alabama as they lost, 71-55, on Thursday night in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The Lady Choctaws (8-14, 4-14 GSC) grabbed a 12-8 to open the game, but the Lions (13-9, 9-9 GSC) would take a 32-20 advantage into the halftime break. UNA scored the first 12 points of the second half and MC cut not make up the deficit.
Junior
Kristen Sampson led MC with 16 points, while junior
Ashley Minor had 13. Senior
AnnMarie Harris scored eight points with a team-high 10 rebounds, while sophomore
Zaneta Kubicka scored a season-high nine points.
Janae Lyde led the Lions with 17 points, going 5-of-10 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. As a team, UNA went 17-of-21 (81%) from the charity stripe. Dalisa Madry scored 13 points for UNA.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday when they will celebrate "Senior Day" as they host Alabama Huntsville at 2:00 p.m.
