CARROLLTON, Ga. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team dropped its second straight Gulf South Conference outing as the Lady Choctaws (2-3, 0-2 GSC) fell 58-57 at the University of West Georgia on Sunday afternoon.
Bre'Ana Singleton gave the Wolves (1-7, 1-1 GSC) its final lead on a 3-pointer with four ticks remaining the clock. The game-winner was three of Singleton's five points and her only field goal of the day.
Carla Clemmons, who scored a season-high 18 points in the effort to lead MC, gave the Lady Choctaws the lead with 32 seconds remaining in the game on an old fashioned 3-point attempt with a layup and free throw.
Chloe Roberts and
Kristen Sampson each added double figures scoring to join Clemmons. Roberts, who gave the Navy and Gold the lead at the break behind a 3-pointer, supplied 13 points while Sampson rounded out the trio with 12 points.
Toni Woods and Clemmons paced the squad on the glass. Woods grabbed a team-best seven rebounds while Clemmons gathered six boards. The duo also combined for five of the team's six blocked shots on the day.
MC, which shot 41.7 percent from the field, posted its best free throw shooting effort of the season posting an 85.7 clip on the afternoon. The Lady Choctaws held the Wolves offense to opponent lows in the contest as the Red and Blue connected on 31.8 percent from the field and 20 percent from behind the arc.
Katrina Littlepage led UWG with 20 points while April Levy added 11. A'Kia Harris grabbed a team-best nine rebounds for the Wolves.
Mississippi College returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 10 as it hosts Union University. Tip is slated for 5:30 p.m.
