CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team will close out the 2015 portion off their schedule when they travel to face Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off at The Complex is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (ET).
This will be the 30th all-time meeting between the two schools with MC holding a 16-13 edge in the series. The Choctaws are just 4-10 all-time at VSU, but they swept the season series from the Blazers last season, winning in Georgia, 87-77.
In the game at VSU last season, MC opened up a 20-point first half lead and took a 47-28 advantage into halftime. The Blazers cut the deficit down to three with under a minute remaining, but the Choctaws scored the final seven points of the game to pull away for the win. Tory Rice with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Choctaws snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday night, going on the road to pick up an 84-82 win over West Florida. Seniors

MC head coach
Don Lofton comes into his 12th season with his 200th career victory in sight. Lofton, who has been a part of the program for more than 30 years, has won 192 games as the head man and coached his 300th career game on Thursday.
Rice (15.9 ppg / 11.1 rpg) scored his 500th career point on and pulled down his 300th career rebounds on Thursday night. He has tallied 135 career offensive rebounds, which is tied with Adam Smith for the most in school history. Rice also ranks 8tth in rebounding (9.9) and 9th in field goal percentage (.596).
Moore (13.6 ppg / 4.9 apg) is the school's all-time leader in career assist average (4.5) and steals average (1.8). The Senatobia native dished out a season-high 10 assists at West Georgia on December 6th. He scored a game-high 20 points with seven assists in the win at UWF on Thursday night.
Senior
Johnny Rucker (12.0 ppg) made a season-high three three-pointers against the Argonauts on Thursday. The Yazoo City native is shooting 80% from the free throw line and is tied for second on the team with 12 assists.
McGee (9.0 ppg) made his first 15 free throws this season before his first miss on Thursday night. The Raymond native was 10-of-12 from the line with a season-high 19 points in the victory at UWF on Thursday.
The Blazers, led by 11th-year head coach Mike Helfer, are off to a fast start, sitting at the top of the GSC standings with a 4-1 league mark. Coach Helfer is just eight wins away from 200 at VSU and just 22 wins away from 400 career victories.
VSU has won three straight games with their only two losses this season coming in overtime. They scored a season-high 127 points in a triple overtime victory over North Alabama on December 3rd. Shaun Jones came off the bench to score 30 points with 10 rebounds in the game.
The Blazers are averaging 85.7 points per game this season, shooting 48% from the field and forcing nearly 15 turnovers per game. Opponents are shooting just 29% from the three-point line against VSU.
Six different Blazers are averaging over 10 points per game this season, while those same six players are the only ones averaging more than 14 minutes played per game. Blake Justice (16.2 ppg) leads the team in scoring, while Justin Simon (9.8 rpg) leads the team in rebounding. Jackson, MS native Chris Bilbo leads the team with 6.2 assists per contest.
