JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Union University on Friday evening in Gulf South Conference action.
Shelby Grace Mays paced the Lady Choctaws with five kills in the match. The trio of
Jamila Biglow,
Kayana Mitchell and
Ashton King each added four kills in the decision.
Bailee Berringer dished out a team-best 12 assists while
Sydney Chandler added nine, which moved her six away from moving to sixth in program history.
Alex Hackett led with 11 digs defensively for the Navy and Gold. She was one of 11 players to record at least one dig in the contest. Mitchell and Mays combined for five blocks in the outing.
After stumbling in the opening set, MC battled back in the second set, attempting to tie the contest at 1-all heading into the intermission, but came up short falling 25-20.

Jordan White ace knotted the affair at 19-all after the Lady Choctaws trailed by as much as 13-8 earlier in the game. The two squads exchanged a pair of ties over the next couple of rallies, with the last coming at 21-all, but Union would stake claim to decision with four of the final five points.
Union opened the final set on a 21-11 run and never looked back en route to a 25-17 decision.
Ceciley Blanchard led UU with 10 kills and seven blocks. Hannah Hugley set up the Bulldogs offensive effort with 33 assists. Deja Moorer and Elise Seufert tied for the team lead with 10 digs each. McKenna Carter tied Blanchard with seven blocks.
Mississippi College returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 as it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Brothers University. Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
