CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback on Monday evening in Gulf South Conference action against Valdosta State. MC falls to 2-17 and 1-10 in the conference while VSU improved to 14-2 and 9-2 in the GSC.

Jenna Campbell and
Kayana Mitchell each tallied a team-best seven kills on the night.
Bailee Berringer dished out a team-leading 16 assists. On the defensive end,
Madison Kimes recorded nine digs to lead the squad.
The Lady Choctaws, who opened the game with a 5-1 lead, held their own in the first set of the match, battling the Black and Red to a 17-all tie. However, VSU grabbed a 20-18 advantage and never looked back closing out the match with five of the next seven points, including the final three.
Valdosta State then stiffened its defense the following two games forcing MC into a negative attack percentage and a total of 22 points the remainder of the way. VSU finished the night with a .310 attack percentage while the Lady Choctaws posted a sub .100-clip.
Antia Rodriguez-Sanchez paced the Blazers with 10 kills while Jessica Cadato tallied 28 assists on the night. Sydney Chick gathered 13 digs on the defensive end of the floor.
Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:15 a.m. central in its first match of the GSC-Sunshine State Conference Crossover. MC faces Rollins to open the Crossover on the campus of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.
