Wolves Build Big Lead, Take Down Lady Choctaws, 63-43

CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team could not overcome a big halftime deficit as they fell to the University of West Georgia, 63-43, on Saturday in A.E. Wood Coliseum.

After trailing 38-15 at the break, the Lady Choctaws (4-2, 0-2 GSC) shot 10-of-19 (53%) from the field in the second half, cutting the lead to as few as 13 points in the second half. After the Wolves (7-1, 2-0 GSC) jumped out to a 44-21 lead, MC would go on a 9-0 run to cut the advantage to 44-30 with 13:59 remaining in the game.

An Ashley Minor layup with 8:58 left cut the score to 50-37, but Nicole Fasick hit a three-pointer for UWG and the Wolves would extend the lead from there.

Minor led the Lady Choctaws with nine points and three steals, coming off the bench for the first time this season. Junior Khadijah Jones blocked three shots for the Lady Choctaws, while junior Deizarae McCoy had a team-high seven rebounds.

The Wolves were led by Taylor Beverly, who tallied 11 points and 16 rebounds, while Fasick had a team-high 13 points.

The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to face Union at 6:00 p.m.
