CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team saw a second-half rally come up just short in a 92-81 loss to the University of West Georgia on Saturday in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The Choctaws (2-2, 0-2 GSC) trailed 48-38 at the half and 72-62 with 7:15 remaining, but a 14-5 run cut the lead to one point with 3:47 remaining. Taylor Cochran and Alex Abreu each hit big three-pointers in the final minutes to help the undefeated Wolves (7-0, 2-0 GSC) pull away for the conference win.

Johnny Rucker led the Choctaws with 26 points, going 9-of-12 from the field and 2-of-2 from the three-point line. He also went 6-of-9 from the foul line and had four rebounds. As a team, MC shot 47% from the field and outrebounded UWG, 35-25.

Tory Rice tallied his third double-double of the season with a season-high 22 points and 15 rebounds. Senior
Jay Case was 3-of-6 from the three-point line for 11 points, while junior
Tristan Moore had a season-high eight assists in the game.
Abreu led all scorers with 31 points, going 10-of-14 from the floor, including 7-of-11 from the three-point line. As a team, the Wolves shot 55% from the field and 58% (15-of-26) from behind the arc. Deonta Stocks had 20 points, while Marcus Dortch and Cochran each had 11.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Jackson, Tenn. to face Union at 8:00 p.m.
