JACKSON, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team could not overcome an unbelievable shooting display by Union University as they fell on Thursday night in Fred DeLay Gymnasium, 97-65.
The Choctaws (2-3, 0-3 GSC) took an early 6-3 lead when junior
Tristan Moore hit a three-pointer with 18:12 to go in the first half. From there, the Bulldogs (8-1, 2-1 GSC) were unconscious from long range, going 13-of-21 (62%) in the first half and 18-of-30 (60%) in the game.
Junior
Johnny Rucker led the Choctaws with 14 points, while senior
Emmanuel Ezejiofo had 11. Senior
Rayner Fredrick had a team-high seven rebounds as the Choctaws were able to outrebound the Bulldogs, 37-29.
Marterrace Brock led the way for Union with 23 points, going 7-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from the three-point line. Pedro Faller and Roy Bullock each had 16 points, while Jordan Montgomery (14 pts) and Eric Leisley (13 pts) were also in double-figures.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Memphis to face Christian Brothers at 4:00 p.m.
