Choctaws Fall at Christian Brothers, 77-70

MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College men's basketball team closed out their first Gulf South Conference road trip of the season with a 77-70 loss to Christian Brothers University on Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.

With 5:01 remaining in the first half, the Choctaws (2-4, 0-4 GSC) trailed by 11 points but a 13-3 run by the Choctaws cut the lead to just 33-32 going into halftime. MC would go on to score the first three points of the second half to take a 35-33 advantage with 19 minutes remaining.

Christian Brothers would grab the lead back but when junior Tory Rice hit a couple of free throws, the score was 61-59 with 5:52 to go. A 9-1 run by the Bucs (5-2, 3-1 GSC) would extend the lead and clinch the win for CBU.

Freshman Stacey Mack tied a season-high with 15 points to lead the Choctaws, going 7-of-10 from the field. He also had a season-high eight rebounds to lead MC. Junior Johnny Rucker (13 pts) and Rice (10 pts) were also in double-figures while junior Tristan Moore had a team-high seven assists.

The Choctaws shot a season-high 54% (26-of-48) from the field and went 15-of-18 from the free throw line. They outrebounded the Bucs 27-19, but 22 turnovers led to 25 points for CBU.

Charlie Oswald scored 16 points to lead CBU, who had five players score in double-figures. Trey Casey and Sidy Sall each had 15 points.

The Choctaws will be back in action on Thursday when they host West Florida at 3:00 p.m. in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
