MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team picked up their 700th win in program history with a 56-45 victory over Christian Brothers University on Saturday afternoon in Canale Arena.
The Lady Choctaws (5-3, 1-3 GSC) also tallied their first win in the Gulf South Conference this season, marking their first GSC victory since the 1995-96 season against Southern Arkansas. MC is in their second transition year to Division II and their first season playing a full GSC schedule.
Junior
Allie Hill scored a season-high 17 points, going 5-of-10 from the field and 3-of-6 from the three-point line while knocking down all four free throws. The transfer from Texas-Pan American had three assists and three rebounds to help snap a three-game losing streak for the Lady Choctaws.
The MC defense held the Lady Bucs (3-6, 1-3 GSC) to a season-low of 46 points allowed. CBU shot just 32% (20-of-63) from the floor and was just 2-of-17 from the three-point line. Courtney Banks had a team-high nine points, while Taylor Pugh led the team with six rebounds.
The Lady Choctaws took a 22-18 lead into halftime and pushed the advantage out to 30-20 with an 8-2 run to open the second half. The Lady Bucs went on a run of their own and when Pugh hit a jumper at the 10:41 mark, the game was tied 32-32.
After the two teams traded baskets, junior
Ashley Minor scored nine straight points to put MC ahead 45-34 and put the game away. The Lady Choctaws held CBU to just two points over a seven-minute stretch to clinch the win.

Kristen Sampson was also in double-figures for MC with 10 points, while junior
Kourtney Steele had a game-high 10 rebounds. Sampson pulled down eight boards, while senior
AnnMarie Harris had seven as MC had a 46-31 edge on the glass.
The Lady Choctaws will be back at home next week when they host West Florida on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in A.E. Wood Coliseum.
