CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College women's basketball team went on a 15-2 run in the final minutes of their season-opening 65-50 victory over Spring Hill College on Friday night at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The Lady Choctaws (1-0) and the Badgers (0-1) were tied at 48-48 with 4:45 remaining, but senior

Zaneta Kubicka each made two free throws to start the run and a free throw by senior
AnnMarie Harris capped an 13-0 scoring jaunt that gave MC a 61-48 advantage with :54 seconds remaining. Harris tallied a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Ashley Minor led the Lady Choctaws in scoring with 13 points, while junior
Kristen Sampson had a team-high three steals. MC shot 42% (19-of-45) from the floor and 42% (5-of-12) from the 3-point line.
Natalie Harper led the Badgers with 14 points, going 4-of-7 from the 3-point line, while Jennifer Clark had 13 points but went 4-of-17 from the field. SHC shot just 18-of-66 (27%) from the floor and went scoreless over a four-minute stretch late in the game.
The Lady Choctaws dominated the paint with 24 points to just 12 for Spring Hill. MC had 16 assists on 19 baskets and outrebounded the Badgers, 41-40.
The Lady Choctaws will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Selma (Ala.) at 6:00 p.m. at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
