CLINTON, Miss. --- The Mississippi College men's soccer team qualified for the National Christian College Athletic Association MidEast Regional with a 2-0 victory over Spring Hill on Friday afternoon at Longabaugh Field.
The Choctaws (9-5, 4-4 GSC) pitched their second straight shutout and fifth of the season as freshman goalkeeper
Humberto Pelaez made six saves to preserve the scoreless effort for the Badgers (3-9, 2-5 GSC). MC outshot SHC by a count of 13-9, but Spring Hill put six shots on net in the match.
Sophomore
George Fradenburg got the scoring going in the 4th minute, tallying his third goal of the season on an assist from senior
Stephen Roberson. After going into the half with the 1-0 victory, junior
Ewahia Amhanesi scored his third goal in the last two matches and fifth overall to extend the advantage.
MC now goes into their final two home matches with a chance to host the NCCAA MidEast Regional. They are currently the highest ranked team in the region as the regional is slated to take place on the weekend on November 15th.
The Choctaws will be back in action on Sunday when they host West Florida at 3:00 p.m. at Longabaugh Field.
