Junior Abbey Salvo has been named the Mississippi College Renasant Bank Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (April 15).

Salvo (Brandon, Miss.) helped lead the Lady Choctaws to a 3-game sweep of Shorter, outscoring the Hawks 23-0. The MS Gulf Coast CC transfer went 4-of-7 (.571) at the plate, tying for the team-high with four hits and three runs scored.

Salvo entered the starting lineup in the doubleheader against Spring Hill and the Lady Choctaws have gone 8-0 over that stretch. She has hit safely in 7-of-8 games with seven runs scored and four RBI.

Salvo and the Lady Choctaws have clinched a spot in the GSC Tournament with two series remaining. MC will travel to Livingston this weekend for a three-game series with West Alabama, opening on Friday night.
