The Mississippi College women’s track and field team traveled to Cedarville, Ohio on Friday for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor National Championships, hosted by Cedarville University at the Doden Field House.
Freshman Anna Grace Govero (Clinton, Miss.) was named the Field Athlete of the meet as she won the Pentathlon on Friday night with victories in three of the five events and a total of 3,127 points. She placed first in the high jump (1.60m), first in the shot put (8.80m), and first in the long jump (4.99m). Govero got second in the 55m hurdles (8.70) and 5th in the 800m run (2:42.26) to give her 3,127 points in the Pentathlon.
On Saturday, she finished 4th in the 55m Hurdles (8.61) and helped lead the 4x400m Relay Team (Kiana Grant, Alex Buchanan and Tierra Williams) to an 8th-place finish (4:12.87). Govero also scored points in the High Jump (1.62m) with a 2nd-place finish.
The Lady Choctaws are now finished with the indoor season and will be back in action on Satuday, March 7th when they host the MC Season Opener at the James E. Parkman Track at Robinson-Hale Stadium.
