Freshman Madeline Campbell has been named the Mississippi College Wright & Ferguson Female Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Monday (March 26).

Campbell (Rochester, Ill.) set a new school record in the 5,000m Run for the second straight meet, posting a time of 18:21.66 at the Falcon Classic, hosted by the University of Montevallo. She won the race by nearly 38 seconds and earned 10 points for the Lady Choctaws with the win.

Campbell's time broke the previous record set by Kaleigh Akers, who posted a time of 18:34.68 last season. Prior to that, Jennifer Cooper held the record with a time of 18:35.70 in 2013.

Campbell and the Lady Choctaws are scheduled to be back in action on Thursday (March 29) at the Hinds Relays in Raymond, MS.
