Gabriel Rivera was named the assistant volleyball coach on Aug. 1, 2017.
A 2017 graduate of Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where he earned his Bachelors in Sports Administration, Rivera served as a member of the East Tennessee State University and Milligan College coaching staffs and was an assistant coach for Corbin Preparatory School.
A five-year, engineer veteran of the United States Coast Guard, he coached club volleyball for GPS Crush in Philadelphia, Penn., and Hernando County Elite in Spring Hill, Fla.

The Cupey Bajo, Puerto Rico, native played two seasons on the Lees McRae men's volleyball team.
