Bentley Odom

Bentley Odom enters her third season as the head coach of the Mississippi College volleyball program after taking the helm in the spring of 2024.

During her first two seasons, Odom guided the Choctaws to back-to-back Gulf South Conference Tournament appearances (2024, 2025), extending the program’s streak to six consecutive postseason berths. She also coached two All-Gulf South Conference selections during that span: Lydia Paulette (2024) and Rhaia Davey (2025). Paulette earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and AVCA All-Region honors during Odom’s first season leading the program. Odom also became the first Choctaw head coach to post a winning season in her first year at the helm.

COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • First Mississippi College head volleyball coach to post a winning season in their first year leading the program
  • Helped guide West Texas A&M to a 33–4 record and the NCAA Division II National Runner-Up finish (2023)
  • Served as the lead positional coach for middle blockers and lead skill coach for blocking at West Texas A&M
  • Helped coach an AVCA All-American Honorable Mention middle blocker at West Texas A&M
  • Helped guide West Florida to a 63–8 combined record during two seasons as a graduate assistant
  • Worked with middle blockers who earned All-American honors at West Florida
  • Served as the lead serving coach during her time with the Argonauts

PLAYING CAREER

  • Played three seasons at Spring Hill College (2017–19) as a middle and right-side hitter
  • Played under legendary head coach Peggy Martin, who compiled 1,464 career wins and a 79.7 winning percentage
  • Helped Spring Hill win Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) championships in 2018 and 2019
  • First Team All-SIAC selection (2019)
  • Two-time SIAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team selection
  • Played high school volleyball at Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama

EDUCATION

  • Earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and English from Spring Hill College (2021)
  • Earned her Master of Science in Physical Education and Human Performance from the University of West Florida (2023)
