Jalessa Taylor enters her seventh season as the assistant coach for the women's basketball program at Mississippi College. She comes back to MC after a stellar four-year career as a Lady Choctaw and two years as a graduate assistant with the program.
She helped lead the women's basketball program back to the postseason during the 2019-20 season as MC earned a berth to the Gulf South Conference Tournament. It marked the first conference tournament appearance for the program since the 2011-12 campaign and the first in the GSC Tournament since the 1994-95 season.
Taylor played from 2007-11 and is second in MC Division III history with 1,128 career points and has the top mark with 104 games played. Jalessa shot 53% from the floor and averaged 5.6 rebounds per contest. She earned a First Team All-ASC selection as a senior and was a First Team All-East Division performer in her junior season.
She played at Jackson Academy where she was a four-time All-Conference performer and All-State Tournament Team. She set the school record at JA for points scored in a career.
She is the daughter of Jeanice Taylor. Jalessa has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and received her Master's degree in Athletic Administration in December 2015.
