CLEVELAND, Miss. --- Mississippi College baseball used a late offensive surge and a standout performance from
Creek Robertson to secure a 7-4 victory over Delta State on Sunday, Apr. 26 at Ferriss Field, marking the Choctaws' first series win on the road against the Statesmen.

Mississippi College (28-22, 21-12 Gulf South Conference) broke open a tight contest with a four-run eighth inning, highlighted by
JT Thigpen's three-run triple to right field that scored Robertson,
Tyler Sanderson and
Jake LaRocca.
Alex Johnson followed with an RBI single to extend the lead and give the Choctaws firm control late.

Robertson powered the MC offense throughout the afternoon, delivering his first career multi-home run game. The Oxford, Miss., native tallied four hits, drove in two runs and scored three times, accounting for two solo home runs that helped the Choctaws build early momentum.

Thigpen added two hits, including a double and the decisive triple, finishing with three RBIs for his fifth three-RBI performance of the season. LaRocca also contributed with a pair of hits and a run scored.

On the mound, MC received a strong start from
Caleb Peterson (5-4), who worked 6.1 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits while striking out five.
Kamryn Carlisle (1) closed out the game to earn his first save of the season, tossing 2.2 innings with three strikeouts.

Delta State mounted a late challenge in the ninth, plating two runs on a sacrifice fly by Henley Parker and an RBI single from pinch hitter Bo Rock. However, Carlisle and the Choctaw defense held firm to secure the win.
