BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Mississippi College senior pitcher Camryn Bailey was named the Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday, following a strong opening weekend to the 2026 softball season.
Bailey posted a 3–0 record in the circle, helping the Choctaws earn wins over Texas A&M International, Southeastern Oklahoma and top-ranked Texas-Tyler. She opened the season with a dominant performance against Texas A&M International, striking out 11 batters and going the distance in a 3–1 victory. Bailey followed that effort with another complete game the next day, recording five strikeouts in seven innings to help Mississippi College knock off No. 1 Texas-Tyler, 7–4.
Bailey faced 84 batters over the weekend and played a key role in setting the tone for the Choctaws during the season's opening stretch.
West Florida's Hannah Harper was named GSC Player of the Week, while Kylie Ballentine of UAH earned Freshman of the Week honors.
