BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Freshman Schyler Chambers etched his name into the record books on Friday, setting a new Mississippi College school record in the men's triple jump at the UAB Vulcan Invite.
Chambers recorded a mark of 14.81 meters (48-7.25) on his second attempt, breaking the previous program record and delivering a performance that now ranks inside the NCAA Division II top 10. The Canton, Mississippi native placed fourth overall in a deep field that included several nationally ranked competitors.
The jump was a personal best for the former Jackson Academy standout and came in just his second collegiate meet, signaling a strong start to his freshman season for the Choctaws.
Mississippi College will continue its indoor slate next week as Chambers and the Choctaws build toward the postseason.
