The home team capitalized early with three first-half goals, maintaining their offensive pressure throughout the match. The Choctaws managed to find the net once in the first half but could not close the gap in the second half, despite a strong defensive effort with six saves from their goalkeeper.
The first half began with Mississippi College taking an early lead when
Vail Wartes found the net in the 12th minute, assisted by
Charlie Cooper. However, the Patriots, demonstrating their national ranking prowess, quickly responded, equalizing just over a minute later and then taking the lead in the 16th minute. Despite several defensive saves by
Rylie Waclawczyk, including a penalty kick goal by Kenzi Tufts in the 39th minute, the Choctaws ended the half trailing 3-1.
