CLINTON, Miss. — The Mississippi College baseball team placed a conference-best four student-athletes on the 2025 ABCA NCAA Division II South Region All-Defensive Team, as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Thursday, June 19.
Seniors
Tyler Jacobsen,
Blaise Breerwood, and
JT Vance, along with junior
Logan Shurden, were each recognized among the region's top defenders. All four selections hailed from Mississippi College, marking an impressive showing for the Choctaws and the Gulf South Conference.
Jacobsen, who anchored the defense behind the plate, recorded 275 putouts, 33 assists, and posted an outstanding .997 fielding percentage. Breerwood was a model of consistency at second base with 74 putouts, 105 assists, and a .978 fielding mark. Shurden was a steady presence at shortstop, compiling 81 putouts, 158 assists, and a .960 fielding percentage. Vance rounded out the group patrolling the outfield, finishing with 107 putouts, three assists, and a .991 fielding percentage.
These selections also made each Choctaw eligible for the prestigious ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors, which were announced a day earlier on Wednesday, June 18.
Mississippi College finished with 35 victories this season – the third most in program history – as the team reached the regional final for the first time in its Division II history and the third all-time
