Four Choctaws Earn D2CCA All-South Region Honors

LAKELAND, Fla. – The postseason accolades continue to roll in for Mississippi College baseball with four players earning recognition on the prestigious 2025 D2CCA All-South Region Baseball Team, announced by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association.

Bryce LaRocca, Jordan Evans, and Korey Cooper were each named to the First Team, while Logan Shurden earned a spot on the Second Team, showcasing the talent that powered the Choctaws through a 30-plus win season and regional final in Tampa, Fla. All four earned All-Gulf South Conference and NCBWA All-South Region laurels.

LaRocca, from Lake Charles, La., delivered an explosive offensive campaign, batting .356 with 16 home runs, 70 RBI, and an impressive 1.082 OPS over 58 starts. The senior finished the season tied for second in program history in single-season home runs with 16, matching Richey Hines, who holds the career and single-season home run mark.

Joining him in the outfield, junior Jordan Evans of Tuscaloosa, Ala., batted .352 and led the team with 76 runs and 26 stolen bases, adding 13 home runs and 50 RBI to his all-region resume.

Korey Cooper, a senior utility player from Dickinson, Texas, hit .348 with 12 home runs, 58 RBI, and a .437 on-base percentage.

On the Second Team, redshirt junior shortstop Logan Shurden of West Monroe, La., proved a reliable presence in the lineup and on the field, batting .321 with 43 RBI and three triples.

MC's four all-region selections were tied for most, joining Montevallo and Tampa, and matched Montevallo for the most all-region first team honorees.

The D2CCA All-Region awards are voted on by the region's sports information directors and recognize the top student-athletes from the South's elite Division II programs.

Mississippi College, which was picked 10th in the Preseason GSC Coaches' Poll, finished the season with a 35-23 mark, the third most wins in school history and its third regional final and first in the Division II era.
