MC Tennis Wraps Up Battles Against Ranked North Georgia Teams

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Mississippi College men's and women's tennis wrapped up competition against nationally ranked North Georgia teams on Thursday at the O'Connor Tennis Center, with the No. 27 Choctaw men falling 4-3 to the No. 22 Nighthawks, and the No. 15 Choctaw women dropping a 4-1 decision to the No. 4-ranked North Georgia squad.

In a tightly contested men's match, Mississippi College (14-9) earned strong performances at No. 1 singles, where Alex Benichou Blanchard defeated Robin Eldin, 6-4, 6-0. Sergio Ramirez Ocana added a win at No. 5 singles, and the Choctaws captured a doubles win at No. 3 behind Ramirez Ocana and Alvaro Saint Martin. However, North Georgia (10-6) claimed the doubles point and clinched key singles matches at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 to edge MC.

On the women's side, Mississippi College (17-6) secured a doubles victory at No. 2, with Anna Hudson and Rocio Martinez cruising to a 6-1 win. Katharina Weber picked up the Choctaws' lone singles win at No. 4, earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Linn Goerdes. North Georgia (15-6), ranked No. 4 nationally, proved too strong at the top of the lineup, taking singles wins at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 to seal the match.

The Choctaw men return to action on Friday, traveling to Memphis to face Christian Brothers at 1 p.m.
