TUNICA, Miss. — Mississippi College opened play at the 2025 Gulf South Conference Men's Golf Championships on Thursday, Apr. 17, finishing the first round in ninth place at Tunica National Golf & Tennis Club with a team score of 314 (+26).
Linus Doverfors led the Choctaws with a 2-over 74, carding steady 37s on both the front and back nine to sit just outside the top 20 individually, in 13th. Doverfors opened with a birdie-free front nine and kept his round together with a solid finish on the closing holes.
Owen Wallace followed with a 4-over 76, highlighted by a clean inward nine that included six pars and a birdie on the par-5 15th.
Alexander Topgaard added an 81, while
Caleb Butler posted an 83. Jeffery Lebeau rounded out the scoring with an 86.
West Florida, ranked No. 2 in the nation, took the early team lead at 3-under par. Montevallo (+5), Valdosta State (+8), and Trevecca Nazarene (+9) followed closely behind as the 10-team field looks ahead to second round.
Mississippi College will tee off early Friday, Apr. 18 for the second round of the three-day championship.
