LIVINGSTON, Ala. — Mississippi College men's and women's tennis battled against West Alabama on Wednesday afternoon at the Vaughan Tennis Complex, with the Choctaw men earning a 4-3 victory while the women fell by the same margin, 4-3.

The MC men (13-9) captured the doubles point with a sweep, setting the tone early. Alex Benichou Blanchard and Rafael Sabio grabbed a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles, while Florian Walcher and Walker Ellis dominated at No. 2 with a 6-1 victory. Alvaro Saint Martin and Sergio Ramirez Ocana clinched the sweep with a 7-6 win on court three.

In singles, Benichou Blanchard continued his strong play with a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 1. Ramirez Ocana (6-1, 6-3) and Saint Martin (6-2, 2-6, 6-0) added key victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, to help seal the 4-3 team win over the Tigers (7-12).

On the women's side, the Choctaws (17-5) fought hard but dropped a tight 4-3 decision. West Alabama (13-5) secured the doubles point with narrow 7-5 wins at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Despite the early deficit, MC rallied in singles. Katharina Weber earned a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 4, Anna Hudson prevailed 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 5, and Alizee Ripolles came back for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 6. However, UWA held on with wins at the top three singles positions to take the match.

Mississippi College returns to action Thursday in Montgomery, Ala., facing North Georgia in a neutral-site matchup at the O'Connor Tennis Center.
