CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Mississippi College opened a busy weekend of competition with several strong performances Friday night at the Lee Fast Break Athletics Invitational, including a national top-50 time and two personal bests in distance events.
Junior Taylor Benoit led the Lady Choctaws in the women's 5000-meter run, recording a personal-best 17:09.21 to finish 13th overall. Her time ranks No. 48 in Division II this season and is the fastest 5K by a Mississippi College runner in 2025.
In the men's 10,000-meter run, freshman Samuel Haber clocked a 30:59.19 in his first collegiate race at the distance. Cooper Parmer, a junior, followed closely with a personal-best 31:04.85, rounding out a solid showing for MC's distance group.
While several Choctaws continue competition Saturday at the Lee Invitational, Mississippi College will also send a group of athletes to the Rhodes 7-Way Meet in Memphis, Tenn. Events begin at 11 a.m. on the campus of Rhodes College.
