HATTIESBURG, Miss. ---- The Mississippi College track and field team concluded their participation in the Southern Miss Invitational this weekend, with strong performances across both men's and women's events.
In the men's 200 meters, junior Davion Smith finished in 9th place with a time of 21.95 seconds, while sophomore Damone Daniels placed 12th at 22.05 seconds. In the 400 meters, sophomore Oliver Ollesch secured 2nd place with a time of 47.47 seconds. The Choctaws' 4x100-meter relay team—composed of Jamaric Hill, Matias Vasquez, Damone Daniels, and Davion Smith—earned 3rd place with a time of 41.63 seconds.
On the field, sophomore Bryan Puckett finished 5th in the shot put with a throw of 15.34 meters, while Steven Conrad also had a solid performance, placing 8th with a 14.30-meter throw. In the discus, Conrad finished 8th with a mark of 47.86 meters, and James Miller placed 7th in the hammer throw with a throw of 51.55 meters. In the javelin, sophomore Matthew Coleman earned a 2nd-place finish with a throw of 60.71 meters.
The women's team also delivered strong performances. In the 100 meters, sophomore Livia Fischer finished 10th with a time of 12.01 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Hilary Udechukwu placed 4th with a time of 1:04.54. In the 4x400-meter relay, Fischer, Ann Cobb, Alana Green, and Udechukwu ran to a 4th-place finish in 3:55.32.
In field events, freshman Rebekah Zweerink placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 11.44 meters and 7th in the discus with a mark of 41.11 meters. The hammer throw saw a strong showing from Mississippi College, with freshman Kennedy Thompson finishing 8th (43.21 meters), Zweerink in 9th (41.41 meters), and freshman Keva Thomas taking 10th place with a mark of 40.46 meters.
The Mississippi College track and field team will return to action next weekend at the Joe Walker Invitational at the University of Mississippi on April 4-5.
