HATTIESBURG, Miss. --- Mississippi College out slugs William Carey on the way to a 16-11 victory on Tuesday, March 25 at Milton Wheeler Field. The victory moves MC's win streak to five games as it improves to 22-9 on the season.

JT Vance propelled the Blue and Gold, going 4-for-5 at the plate with three home runs and six RBI. The Union, Miss., native recorded a solo, two-run and three-run home run in the contest. The home run trio moves the senior into a tie for second on the team with seven on the season.

Logan Shurden joined Vance with multiple RBI as he drove in five, including the Choctaws' first three runs of the game with a bases-clearing triple in the top of the first. Shurden finished the night with a 3-for-4 performance at the dish.

Korey Cooper and
Bryce Capobianco each added two hits as MC totaled 15 hits in the contest, which is tied for second most this season alongside outings against Arkansas Tech and Blue Mountain.

The win gives MC its fourth straight in the series with the Crusaders and the third consecutive at the Milt.

The Choctaws jumped on its fellow Magnolia State institution early, holding an 11-3 lead through five and a half frames. The Crusaders began chipping away at the deficit, plating three runs in the bottom of the sixth and two more in the seventh to narrow the margin to 11-8 after seven complete frames. However, the Blue and Gold responded with a run in the eighth and four more in the top of the ninth to double up Carey.

WCU attempted a late rally, plating three runs in the ninth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit. The outcome snapped the Crusaders' 12-game win streak and handed them just their fifth loss on the season as they moved to 26-5 on the campaign.

Six hurlers saw action for the Blue and Gold as
Parker Martin (2-0) picked up the decision on the mound. Martin saw 2.2 innings in relief, allowing three runs on five hits.

Mississippi College returns to action on Friday, March 28 as it travels to the Peach State for GSC action. First at Valdosta State is slated for 4 p.m. central.
