JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi College's men's and women's track and field teams delivered impressive performances at the Belhaven Invitational, securing several victories and top finishes across a wide range of events.
Katie Gates led the way for the women, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.77 seconds, followed closely by teammate Madison Flugence in second place with a time of 14.83. Livia Fischer earned a victory in the 200 meters, clocking in at 25.67 seconds, while Taylor Benoit triumphed in both the 800 meters (2:15.46) and the 1500 meters (4:37.36). On the men's side, Oliver Ollesch secured the win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.05 seconds, and Sidney Stegall claimed victory in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 3:53.85.Â
In the field events, Matt Colemann placed first in the javelin while Kennedy Thompson excelled in the women's discus throw, winning with a mark of 36.82 meters, while James Miller took first in the men's hammer throw with a throw of 51.06 meters.
Mississippi College's outdoor track and field teams will next compete at the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss. on March 28-29, 2025. The meet will kick off at 10:00 AM on both Friday and Saturday.Â
