CLINTON, Miss. --- Mississippi College's track and field teams delivered strong performances at the MC Spring Cleaning Meet on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the James E. Parkman Track. The meet saw several Choctaw athletes securing podium finishes and setting competitive marks across a variety of events.
In the women's long jump, Mississippi College's Madison Flugence and Hannah Jackson stood out, finishing second and third, respectively. Flugence recorded a jump of 5.29 meters, while Jackson posted a 5.24-meter effort. Southern Arkansas' Diamond Brunn won the event with a 5.84-meter jump.
Mississippi College claimed victory in the men's shot put, with Bryan Puckett throwing 15.68 meters to secure first place. Teammate Steven Conrad also had a strong showing, finishing third with a 15.00-meter throw, behind West Alabama's Dedric Hicks (15.11m).
On the women's side, Rebekah Zweerink and Morgan Thrift recorded solid results in the discus, with Zweerink finishing fifth (38.35m) and Thrift eighth (35.07m). Sakari Faulkner added to the top-10 list, finishing 10th with a throw of 33.20m in the event.
Jamaric Hill, a senior for the Choctaws, placed sixth in the men's triple jump with a 13.36-meter mark. The event was closely contested, with Southern Arkansas' Chad Blake taking the top spot with a jump of 13.88 meters.
Mississippi College made a strong showing in the women's hammer throw, placing five athletes in the top 10. Keva Thomas led the charge with a fourth-place finish (38.37m), while Faulkner finished fifth (38.20m). Kennedy Thompson (37.41m) and Thrift (35.53m) rounded out the top 10 with sixth and eighth-place finishes, respectively.
Men's Track and Field
• 5000m: Braedon Methvin led the Choctaws, finishing first with a 14:28.99 finish, followed by Brock Kelly (14:34.08) and Christian Balcer (14:38.51). Other MC finishers included Carson Smith (14:45.06), Gabriel McElwain (14:51.43), Samuel Haber (14:57.89), Cooper Parmer (15:04.61), Sidney Stegall (15:07.86), Matthew Singletary (15:14.81), and Wyatt Whipp (15:17.44). MC secured 11 of the top 15 spots in the event.
• 400m Hurdles: Matias Vasquez claimed the win with a 52.98, while Oliver Ollesch took second in 53.68. Dorian Hurd finished with a time of 58.53 to place fifth in the event.
• 4x100m Relay: The MC squad of J. Hill, J. Bunch Jr., D. Daniels, and D. Smith clocked a 42.08 to secure first place.
• 100m: Davion Smith ran an 11.11 to place among the top finishers at sixth in the event.
Women's Track & Field
• 5000m: Taylor Benoit led the way for MC, placing fourth with a time of 17:52.27, followed by Kinley Harris (18:11.27), Shana Sellers (18:13.69), Ava Wardlaw (18:31.50), Kathryn Finch (18:48.98), and Caroline Dooling (19:22.23) rounding out the top-10 at 5-9.
• 400m Hurdles: Hilary Udechukwu claimed first place for MC with a time of 1:04.73.
• 100m: Alana Green finished first place with a run of 12.39, while Livia Fischer crossed the line at 12.68 to place second.
• 100m Hurdles: Madison Flugence led the Choctaws with a 15.44 finish to take first place.
• 200m: Hilary Udechukwu and Alana Green led the Choctaws, both clocking 25.44 to take the top two spots. Noeli Klassen (26.38) finished fourth, followed by Livia Fischer (26.43) in fifth and Madison Flugence (26.51) in sixth.

With a solid outing across the board, Mississippi College looks to build on these performances as the outdoor season continues. The Choctaws will return to action next weekend at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama, on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
