TYLER, Texas — The No. 17-ranked Mississippi College men's tennis team and the No. 19-ranked women's team battled against No. 16 UT Tyler on Saturday, with the Choctaws falling 4-0 and the Lady Choctaws dropping a tight 4-2 decision.

Men's Match Recap

In a top-20 showdown, No. 17 Mississippi College (2-1) faced a tough challenge against No. 16 UT Tyler. The Patriots took the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, while Alex Blanchard and Alvaro Saint Martin trailed 5-3 at No. 1 when the match was halted.

In singles play, Blanchard fought in a hard-fought battle at No. 1 but fell 7-6 (7), 6-4 to Carel Wessel. Alvaro Saint Martin and Rafael Sabio also suffered straight-set defeats, as UT Tyler clinched the match.

Women's Match Recap

The No. 19-ranked Lady Choctaws (2-1) pushed UT Tyler to the brink but ultimately fell 4-2.

UT Tyler took the doubles point with victories on all three courts, giving them an early advantage. In singles, Emma Roberts dominated with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Rocio Martinez Azcarraga staged a comeback victory at No. 3, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Despite strong performances, UT Tyler secured the match with wins at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5.

Mississippi College returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 23, facing Lubbock Christian in Tyler, Texas at 11 a.m. CT.
