MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Mississippi College baseball team fell, 7-1, in the series opener at No. 25 Montevallo on Friday, Feb. 21. MC moves to 6-5 on the season and 2-2 in Gulf South Conference action.

The Choctaws' offense was limited as they totaled seven hits in the contest – all singles - led by
Bryce LaRocca with a pair of hits, including the lone scoring hit in the ninth inning, pushing
Jordan Evans across the dish as he reached on a two-out, hit by pitch.

Holland Townes (0-3) took the setback on the mound despite 11 strikeouts in the start, which is tied for most in the conference this season. The Ridgeland, Miss., native is the first Choctaw to strike out 10-plus batters in game since Chris Crosby on Feb. 24, 2019. He allowed five runs on seven hits in six innings.

The Falcons used the long ball as they totaled 11 hits, including four home runs. The Purple and Gold led off with a home run in the first inning, added another in the sixth and closed out with back-to-back home runs in the seventh – all solo homers.
