ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Mississippi College men's and women's tennis teams picked up key road victories on Sunday, with the men's team earning a 4-3 win over Ouachita Baptist and the women's team defeating Henderson State 4-1.
The men's squad fought through a competitive battle, securing the doubles point and clinching three singles matches to claim the victory. The No. 2 doubles team of Alex Benichou Blanchard and Alvaro Saint Martin defeated Yarin Aebi and Aaron Osmond 6-3, while Florian Walcher and Sergio Ramirez Ocana won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles to give MC an early lead. In singles, Rafael Sabio (No. 5) won 7-5, 6-2, Ramirez Ocana (No. 6) prevailed in a three-set marathon 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-4, and Walcher (No. 3) earned a comeback win 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to lift the Choctaws to victory.
On the women's side, Mississippi College continued its strong start to the season, improving to 3-0 with a 4-1 win over Henderson State. The Choctaws took the doubles point behind a 6-3 victory from Emma Roberts and Ana Julissa De Mata Rodríguez at No. 1 and a dominant 6-2 win by Alizee Ripolles and Ann Cabot Stockett at No. 3.
In singles play, Roberts battled through three sets at No. 1, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. De Mata secured a 6-2, 6-2 straight-sets victory at No. 2, while Katharina Weber clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4.
Both teams will look to build on their momentum as they continue their early-season schedules.
